I’ve seen this doll in person, but never backlit. It gives it such a wonderful ethereal quality. Keep going with it, because this project has a lot of promise. It’s already beautiful.

Hi Sarah! I’m so glad you included your website in your thank you email to the interns this summer. This particular image is striking because of the subject matter and its simplicity. Maybe you could do a series using different animals and different healing symbols? The blood might stand out even more if you painted the entire background a pastel color, like sky blue or lilac. Just thinking, because I liked the image so much!
PS- I didn’t know you were an artist until the last week of work, but I’m glad I found out! I go to school for visual art and performing art.

Right on, Sarah. I enjoy reading about your processes and also inspirations. I believe I appreciate the good balance of the less tangible/graspable -I would use the term “spiritual”- aspects of the roots of expression, and the practical toiling of the hands and materials. It is exciting and encouraging to be allowed to witness you working these things out.

hey Sarah, i’m sure you have probibly seen his work already,but if you havent, Walton Ford has a great image of a wolf and bison hunt based off of Catlins paintings…. check it out if you havent seen them before…
